Not Suzy Homemaker

Participating in a meme is not alone sharing reactions to the same subject or questions with others, it's also a big surprise who will comment.

Last saturday the meme "saturday 9" had the theme: "thunking on a saturday".

The first commenter was Carielle from:

BWS tips button

Her blog is a mix of recipes, memes and other blogposts.
On top today a lovely post about her little daughter who's developing fast from a baby into a very active toddler.

The way Carielle writes about the process reflect the love for her daughter and the intense joy she experiences in seeing such a little one discover movements and social games.

The blog not even half a year old, but it's very promissing.
I'm looking forward to future posts.

Good, True and Beautiful

Yesterday a whole swarm of fruitflies invaded our kitchen.
I was just about ready to hang another curtain in front of the door to keep the bugs out when they saw their chance.
And you know, when they are in the house, you might as well give in, feed them and raise their kids. Ugh!

I cleaned the kitchen thoroughly...again... put all edible things in boxes, took care the boxes were clean on the outside too and sat down with a cup of coffee, all red and not happy with the weather.

Time for a meme.

So I sat down, wrote my post about organising the new schoolyear, and had a quick look through all the submissions of the enormous amount of participants.

My eye was caught by a post of Sharon, who worte about a way to get rid of...yep...fruitflies.

So off to her blog I went.

It's called: Good, True and Beautiful and it's fun, inspirational and a good place to be.

While grasping the apple vinegar, I smiled, because she makes croutons the same way as I do.
Her blog is a mix of posts which bring a smile to each mother's face (Oh yes, I remember shopping with 2 children.... imagine with 6 little ones. LOL!), post which are informative and post to make life less of a financial burden. (Sorry for the clever hiding words...but I don't want Google to outrank me below zero.)

With other words, a blog that should be on your blogroll.

Thanks Sharon, for your blog and the good tip against fruitflies. It works!!

The only one

I was dropping around, but got annoyed by the same ad over and over again.
It was like in the early days of paid ads at entrecard.
Just two of the same ads.

Felt I was the only one dropping at entrecard, so stopped doing so.

Have a happy weekend!!

call for a strike of entrecard droppers

To show the importance of droppers for the entrecard system.
To show we're no second rate entrecarders.
To show we want to have complete control over our own site.
To get equal respect for EC and money paid advertisers.
To prevent the decay of the system.

Don't link, but download the graphic(s) to your computer and upload them to your own site.
Thank you.

And when you want one of these on your site: go ahead:

I'm fooled by entrecard

An agreement is an agreement, isn't it?

So when I'm told I won't have advertisements on my site without my approval, I won't have them.

When I'm dealing with someone or some organization that is trustworthy I can rely on that agreement.

Then tell me which entrecard is displayed here:

I'm not against the blog. Not at all. I think it's a very nice one and interesting too.
But it's about the principle.

There's an advertisement on my site that shouldn't be there.
Because the top right one should be seen.

I don't like the way entrecard is dealing with the bloggers who made the system to a success.

It's a complete disgrace.

From topbloggers we've become a kind of second rate bloggers, that's the way how we're treated.

I'm sorry that the blog that was supposed to be the featured entrecardblog wasn't on the widget all day.

And I'm very angry someone agreed with me not to put unapproved squares on my site and did so.
not only on my blog, but on hundreds of blogs.
Just for a little bit of money!!!!!

Well, read more about it here.

update!

Greetje has agreed to use her blog as an experiment on admitting money paid advertisements, so we can see what happens in detail.

Thanks Greetje!

Autism sucks and the blame game

Isn't it great to start autism awareness month with a post about an autism blog?

I don't believe that coincidence rules our lives as much as certain people want to make me believe. Fact is, I'm way behind spreading commentluv on people and their blogs.
Jeannie commented on a post of march 24!!

Her blog has a name that sticks to my mind: Autism sucks.
It's written by a team of autism parents, and all who have children with autism are welcome to write.

Because the posts are real life, and are written very well, I recognize a lot from my own life and the lives of my children.
Take the last post: The blame game.

No week goes by without thinking about the causes of my sons autism.
Which features and characteristics do I share?
Have I done anything wrong in such a way that I contribute to the problem?

Their father is clearly on the autism spectrum too. It's impossible to ignore that.
But do I play a part too?

Like Katrina, who has written "The blame game" I'm very sensitive to light.
I was among the first to wear self-coloring glasses and I remember one of the lecturers telling me to put off my sunglasses or leave.
I left... straight to the medical department to get permission to wear them at university.

Only one of my sons has a good sense for detail, but I pity them all, because I'm the one who observes everything and remembers visual details so well, that I'm still able to describe situations in detail from 40 years ago.
But almost all family members had a great eye for detail. We all grew up as story tellers. Our family history is detailed and needs to be written down before it disappears.

The emotions I had when I realised my oldest son had asperger syndrome (about 18 to 20 years ago) are long gone.
Autism sucks, oh yes it does, but I'm not playing the blame game anymore.
There are days I fail to keep my mind focussed on the needs of the kids and I feel disappointed that my life isn't even 5% of what I want it to be, but I know it's just natural to feel that way.

We don't have therapies and support available like in many other countries.
It's just a good diagnosis and maybe a few sessions of therapy and some meds. That's it.

I've been my kids speech therapist, I've been their behavioral therapist and everything else.
Because of that I haven't been able to have the career that was expected. No pension.
It makes me sad that so many parents have a very hard life, because society isn't aware enough that autism is just as bad as having no legs.
My kids need a psychological wheelchair.

Well, you see the associations the blog "Autism Sucks" raises.

When you don't know anything about autism you'll be able to get insight. When you live with autism you'll sure feel a lot better seeing others are dealing with the same issues like you do.

Symphony of Love

Sometimes in life we're faced with dilemmas.

When I blogged: Should we cling on to luxury beauty ideals? Braces or not?, one of the girls and I were trying to find out how we thought about the way the orthodontist almost forced her to get fixed braces. Something was withholding us, and that day we were aware that talking about braces in a time of recession isn't quite right when you're not experiencing physical problems.
We decided the money was far better spent on other things, like lifesaving treatment for babies.

The first comment was from Symphony of Love and even though I don't know the commenter, the kindness I've found in her blog radiated through her comment.

Symphony of Love is written in Singapore, but the subjects she blogs about are close to my heart.
When reading I feel that people all over the world are connected and the world will be a better place when we all give our best.

The quotations that are used in the blog are very inspiring, and it's well worth to join the mailinglist and get a love quote in the mail each day.
And maybe you want to download Symphony of Love: a Pictorial eBook of Love Quotations.
It's such a lovely gift for each and everyone of us.

When you click the links under the header you'll find out how the idea of the eBook was born.

The archives reach back to 2006, so there's enough to read and learn. But most of all there's a lot to keep with you to think about.

Thanks!!

Teena and It's all about me!

Ofcourse I could have taken one of the other posts to create my first item of commentlove, but I just decided to wait who would comment first on my answers to one of the best memes: Manic Monday.

I wasn't surprised to see Teena from It's All About Me! commenting first.
She's a regular and most valued commenter, who always brings a smile from Canada.

Her site is always a pleasure to be.

Teena doesn't only love to participate in memes, but she also writes lovely lightfooted posts and serious bookreviews.

Her musical review about Married Alive! made me want to see the performance.
I guess I have to wait until it arrives here.

Before that I'm sure Teena has directed my attention on something else.

Thanks Teena!!!

Welcome to Blogback Time

Welcome!

The way everything is prone to commercialising these days made me think about a way to thank the visitors to my blogs without third parties making money out of our efforts (mine to write a post and the other to comment.)

So I decided to do something completely different than putting my commenters in the sideline.
They're more worth than a name.

So here I go.

First commenters to a post are secured of being mentioned here, either with a description of their blog, or about a post they've written.

My frequent commenters will be surprised once in a while.

Here you'll also find what caught my attention on internet.

You won't find copied texts, so those who are celebrating with a tremendous amount of texts and links to their sponsors...I'm sorry. (Google doesn't like copies anyway.)

Nor is this blog meant to advertise for commercial sites.
I think it's only reasonable that you pay for an advert.

And now it's blogback time!!
